Brian, who formed Aberdeen Radiation Protection Services in 2001, is now semi-retired but continues to work for ARPS on a part-time basis, meeting new clients and addressing problems involving radiaiton.
Brian has over 40 years’ experience as a Radiation Protection Adviser, initially in the Hospital and Research sectors, but for the last 20 years predominantly in the Oil & Gas sector. He has been involved in consultancy work in the offshore industry since 1975. He is regularly asked to give presentations at national and international conferences on the problems of NORM within the Oil and Gas sector. He was part of the working party that formulated the UK response to the proposals for the latest European Euratom Basic Safety Standards which are the basis of UK radiation legislation. Brian has recently been involved in the development of a platform decommissioning strategy for one of the major UK operators.
