Penny has been a certified RPA for 24 years with experience in the medical, research, veterinary and oil and gas industry. She has participated in SRP committee work and was a member of the Department for Health Working Party developing the standards for Medical Physics Expert Certification. She has also been a member of the national Radioactive Waste Advisers Board. Before joining ARPS over 15 years ago, Penny completed 25 years as a clinical scientist with the NHS, finally as Head of Radiation Protection for NHS Grampian. Currently, she is on the Environment Agency's (EA) Small Users' Liaison Group.
She actively participates in audits and training both on and offshore in the UK and internationally, acting as lead RPA with some of our major oil and gas clients. Penny is also the main contact for medical, dental, vet and chiropractor clients. She has also experience with industrial radiography and XRF as well as use of unsealed sources in laboratories.
Penny is a Radiation Protection Adviser, Radioactive Waste Adviser as well as Company Secretary within ARPS. She is also recognised as a Medical Physics Expert by the Department of Health. Penny led the team which achieved our ISO accreditations and Silver Award Healthy Working Lives. Penny also helps with the production of our twice yearly newsletter but she would prefer to be off travelling.
